Achi is the Igbo name for Brachystegia eurycoma. It is called Akolodo in Yoruba, Ukung in Efik and Okwen in Bini.
Achi is used as Soup thickener in the South of Nigeria, it can be used to prepare oha soup, ukazi soup, bitter leaf soup and more.
As a soup thickener it can be used in place of ukpo , cocoyam , ofor , ogbono etc.
